Unfinished Business: Mark Wilsher
26 July – 26 October 2008
Wilsher's series of ‘photo-drawings’ modify and recontextualise abstract sculpture.
In the culmination of his fellowship at the Henry Moore Institute, artist, writer and curator Mark Wilsher experiments with images and texts relating to abstract sculpture of the 1960s and 70s.
These new works, starting photographic reproductions of sculptures from the magazines of their time, repurposes the work of artists such as David Evison, Roger Harmer, Peter Hide, Bernard Schottlander, William Tucker and Brian Wall. In doing so, Wilsher engages with this ‘middle-generation’ of sculptors in an attempt at inter-generational conversation.
Originally shown in Gallery 4 at the Instute, this show was later displayed at CHELSEA Space in London, 21 January - 28 February 2009.
