Our Sculpture Research Library and Archive of Sculptors' Papers provide a unique resource for the study of sculpture.
The extensive library collections at the Henry Moore Institute cover sculpture internationally, with a particularly strong focus on British artists.
We are open seven days a week, with the exception of bank holidays. Opening times are 10am - 5:30pm, extended to 8pm on Wednesday. On Sunday we are open 1pm - 5pm.
From 10 - 14 June some areas of the library will be inaccessible as the next exhibition is installed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please contact the library ahead of your visit to ensure items you wish to consult are available.
From Saturday 22 June our opening times are changing to match Leeds Art Gallery. The library will remain open every day, 10am - 5pm (Wednesday: 10am - 8pm, Sunday: 1pm - 5pm).
Guided tours of the library can be arranged to introduce our resources and facilities to interested groups. A minimum of seven days advance notice is required and a maximum of twelve people can attend a library tour. Please contact the Librarian to arrange a convenient date to bring a group.
The working lives of hundreds of sculptors are captured in our rich and fascinating collections of photographs, letters, drawings and sketchbooks.
The usual opening hours for archive are Monday to Thursday, 10am - 5pm, closing for lunch 1pm - 2pm. Also available by appointment on Wednesday evenings until 8pm.
To view the collections you must make an appointment in advance, as space is limited and the archive is often busy. It is advisable to get in touch at least four weeks' prior to your preferred date to visit. Please contact the Archivist to discuss making an appointment.
