The Henry Moore Institute is located next to Leeds Art Gallery on Victoria Gardens, with Leeds Town Hall just a little further down the road.

Close by are Millennium Square, Leeds City Museum and Leeds Cathedral, and it is only a couple of minutes’ walk to the shopping areas of Briggate, Leeds Trinity and the Victoria Quarter.

Leeds train station is a five-minute walk away.

On foot and by bike

On foot

Our central location means we’re never more than a few minutes’ walk from wherever you are in Leeds city centre.

We’re in the middle of a large pedestrianised area, making it safe and easy to walk here with children.

Getting here by bike

A dedicated cycle lane runs right outside the Institute.

E-bike rental

You can rent an e-bike via Beryl for sustainable travel around Leeds. You will need to download the Beryl app to do so.

The closest e-bike pick-up bays to us are on the Headrow opposite Leeds Town Hall, and on St Annes Street near Leeds Cathedral.

Cycle storage

There is on-street cycle parking outside the Institute. Property is left at the owners’ risk.

We do not allow bicycles inside the Institute.

Getting to Leeds

Leeds is easily accessible by the M1, M62 and A1 motorways.

Accessible parking

The Institute does not have its own parking facilities.

The nearest accessible parking bays are on St Anne’s Street, by the side of Leeds Cathedral.

 

Car parks

Secure car parking is available in Woodhouse Lane, The Light, Merrion Centre and Rose Bowl car parks, a 5-10 minute walk away.

Arriving by coach

Drop off

The nearest drop off bays for coaches or minibuses are on Great George Street, behind Leeds Town Hall.

Coach parking

There is dedicated coach parking for approximately 12 coaches between Wade Lane/Lovell Park Road, around 5 minutes’ walk from the Institute.

Travel by train

From Leeds train station

We are only a few minutes away from Leeds train station (station code LDS).

Turn left as you leave the station by the City Centre exit, and follow Park Row until it intersects with The Headrow; you’ll find us there on the corner.

Services from London

A direct service leaves King’s Cross (station code KGX) every half hour, taking around two hours to arrive in Leeds.

From the bus station

We are a 15-minute walk from the city centre bus station.

Bus stops outside the Institute

The 14, 19/19A, 33/33A, 49, 50/50A, 65, 72, 75 and X6 all stop on The Headrow beside Victoria Gardens (bus stops Y5, Y6, Y7 and Y10).

Closest airports

Leeds Bradford Airport

Leeds Bradford airport is the closest airport to the Institute. By car it is around a thirty minute drive to the Institute, and there is a regular bus service taking roughly one hour to get between the two.

Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport is also close by, with a regular train service connecting it to Leeds that takes around ninety minutes.
