Educational visits 2024

We are currently closed for the winter.

Bookings are now open for our 2024 visitor season, which runs from Wednesday 28 March until Sunday 3 November.
We are fully booked for the Summer Term (April, May, June & July), but have tours available in September and October.

What’s included in your visit

You and your students will be accompanied by one of our Volunteer Guides for an outside tour of the sculpture gardens, which present an awe-inspiring portfolio of Henry Moore’s sculptural works and creative processes.

We encourage groups to think broadly about what subjects can be supported on site. Not just art and design, but also construction, engineering, architecture, mathematics, language, storytelling, history, the natural environment, the power of being part of a community and much more.

Your booking will include additional time for independent study. Feel free to sketch, write or take photos in the sculpture gardens, or use our interpretation room.

Guided tour options

We offer two different types of guided tours:

An introduction to Henry Moore’s figurative artworks, and the process of using shape and scale

60 minutes

This tour has been tailored in consultation with local teachers. Giving students an introduction to specific areas of study, it focuses on Moore’s figurative artworks and his use of shape and scale.

Our Guides are equipped with a tour kit of objects and imagery to encourage interactivity and spark thoughtful discussion.

This shorter form tour gives you more independent study time.

The art and life of Henry Moore

90 minutes

This longer form tour supports student research in more depth and detail by sharing information spanning Henry Moore’s lifetime.

Hear about how Moore’s upbringing, influences, experiences, peers and working processes have shaped his legacy past and present.

If you let us know in advance the topics you are studying in relation to your visit, our guides may be able to tailor this tour to your needs.
