Yorkshire Day: Castleford Through the Ages

To mark Yorkshire Day this year, we'd like to share this gem from our Archive: a Castleford Secondary School Concert programme from December 1912.

The concert's theme in this particular year was "Castleford through the Ages" and the performers were arranged in a series of episodes, each representing a different period in Castleford's history.
The cover image was jointly designed by Albert Wainright (1898 - 1943) a close school friend of Moore's who later became a renowned painter.

You can find H.S. Moore (Henry Spencer Moore) himself on page 5, where he is listed as "Thomas" a Hanoverian villager in Episode IX "The Jacobite Rebellion of '45". Also mentioned in the programme end notes is Miss Alice Gostick, Moore's art teacher and friend.
