Hamish (Henry) Basil Macpherson (1915-2005) was a sculptor who trained at Central School of Arts and Crafts, London under John Skeaping (1901-80), from 1934-9. Following the Second World War he returned there to teach.
This archive comprises seven beautifully stylistic car design drawings by Macpherson, made when he worked in the motor industry in the 1950s. These are important materials for tracking the work of sculptors within manufacturing and industry.
We would like to thank Ann Compton, of Mapping the Practice and Profession of Sculpture in Britain & Ireland 1851-1951, for putting us in contact with the owner of the collection.
