Join us in the Henry Moore Lecture Theatre in Leeds Art Gallery for a day of presentations from writers, art historians, curators, artists and poets about the material lives of stone.

Staged to accompany the display ‘Rock, Pebble, Quarry’, part of the larger The Sculpture Collections exhibition (Henry Moore Institute and Leeds Art Gallery, until 2 September) this conference explores these ideas across art history, geology and poetry.

Speakers include: Ian Duhig, Vahni Capildeo, Nigel Walsh (Leeds Art Gallery), Dr William Atkins (Courtauld Institute of Art), Dr Andrew Patrizio (University of Edinburgh), Dr Bobby Millar (University of Leeds), Jeremy Noel-Tod (University of East Anglia), Dr Andrew Moore (Independent) and Dr Jon Wood (Henry Moore Institute).

Really love this piece by Barry Flanagan. Have never seen it before. It reminds me of the carvings on the tomb of the Gavr'inis in France!
