Henry Moore Studios & Gardens in Hertfordshire is pleased to welcome group visits back for 2022 to experience the life and work of Britain’s most famous sculptor.

Widely recognised as one of the most important artists of the twentieth century, Henry Moore, along with his wife Irina, established their house and studios in Perry Green, Hertfordshire in 1940. Their rural setting served not only as a refuge from The Blitz in London but as a profound source of inspiration – influencing the scale and scope of many of Moore’s most acclaimed works. The picturesque natural surroundings stimulated Moore’s creativity – from the rolling landscape itself to the rocks and orchards found throughout the estate.

The peaceful grounds of Henry Moore Studios & Gardens are just a short trip from London (a 27-mile drive, or 40-minute train journey from London), and presents Moore’s iconic sculptures in the landscape where he conceived them, offering visitors the opportunity to interact with the works physically as well as intellectually.

As part of the visit in 2022, groups will be able to enjoy Henry Moore: The Sixties a new exhibition offering a fascinating insight into Moore's life and work during this pivotal decade, which saw increasing global demand for his work. Featuring rarely seen sculptures, drawings, graphics and a wealth of archive material drawn entirely from the Henry Moore Foundation collections to illuminate the innovation of an artist at the height of his career.

This year we are delighted to offer three itineraries for groups, all of which include a guided tour of the sculpture gardens, exhibition and studios:

Itinerary A: Exhibition, Studios and Gardens, £13 pp

A shorter visit, ideal for groups who are travelling from further afield, itinerary A simply includes a 90 minute tour of the sculpture gardens, studios and exhibition, plus time to enjoy our 70 acre site, refreshments and gift shop.

Itinerary B:Tour of Henry Moore’s home, Hoglands, £18 pp

A full day visit which offers your group the chance to see Hoglands, the Moore’s family home, in the morning. Inside you’ll see the extraordinary collection of artworks that Henry Moore acquired during his lifetime, as well as the flints, bones and shells which inspired his work. After lunch you will join one of our knowledgeable and friendly Volunteer Guides for your tour.

Itinerary C: Archive Tour, £18 pp

A full day itinerary, ideal for groups who have a particular interest in sculpture or art history. Spend the morning in the fascinating Henry Moore Archive with a member of the expert team, followed by an afternoon tour of the gardens, studios and exhibition.

We welcome groups between 10 and 40 visitors. To make an enquiry, please visit our website: henry-moore.org/visit/henry-moore-studios-gardens/group-visits or call us on (0)1279 843333

About Henry Moore Studios & Gardens

Henry Moore Studios & Gardens is the former home and work-place of sculptor Henry Moore (1898-1986). From 1940 until his death in 1986, Moore lived and worked in rural Hertfordshire where he acquired over 70 acres of land and set up various studios, creating the ideal environment in which he could make and display his work and cater to an international demand for exhibitions.

Now open to the public, Henry Moore Studios & Gardens offers a unique insight into the artist’s working practice and showcases a large selection of Moore’s renowned monumental sculptures in the landscape in which they were created. It also presents annually changing exhibitions, which further illuminate the life and work of the sculptor and is home to the Henry Moore Archive, one of the largest single-artist archives in the world.
