Research

HMI research network

As part of a wider strategy to open and maintain active contact with new scholars whose research intersects with sculptural concerns, the Henry Moore Institute is launching an academic database aimed at postgraduate students. As new scholars are often unpublished during and for a time after their studies, their developing expertise often remains invisible outside the conference and lecture circuit. The database will turn this expertise into a useful information resource.

The database will help scholars keep up-to-date with current developments in sculpture research, make contacts with others working in similar fields, and find out about opportunities available to them. It will enable us to keep in touch with scholars about research events at the Institute, and to inform them about conferences, calls for papers, publication possibilities, and scholarships opportunities in their field, not only at the Institute but elsewhere.

We hope you will agree that this is an exciting and important initiative, which could make a real difference to establishing connections between scholars engaged in sculpture studies both in Britain and overseas. However, in order to make this project successful, we need the input of lecturers, course leaders and PhD and MA supervisors.

Please pass on the enclosed form to any PhD students you are supervising whose research deals with sculptural issues, and any MA students who may be considering pursuing a topic relating to sculpture at doctoral level.

We look forward to your participation.

All information held on the database is confidential and the Institute will not pass on contact details to third parties. When an outside party wants to contact a scholar on the database, the Institute would act as an intermediary.
