A one-day seminar programmed to accompany the Henry Moore Institute exhibition The Creation of Henri Gaudier-Brzeska.  In the evening, Ken Russell will introduce the screening of his 1972 film, Savage Messiah, at the Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds.

The symposium focuses attention on the ways in which Gaudier's life and work have been written about by those who knew him.  The recent publication of a new scholarly edition of Jim Ede's Savage Messiah by the Henry Moore Institute in collaboration with Kettle's Yard gives us the opportunity to reconsider the broader historiography of Gaudier-Brzeska and by focusing on individual figures, their friendships with Gaudier-Brzeska and their texts we hope to create discussion about the important ramifications of these texts and testimonies for our understanding of Gaudier's life and work today.
