David will continue with The Foundation in a consultancy role.
Anita Feldman has been Curator of The Henry Moore Foundation since 1998. As well as managing The Foundation's collections, she has organised around 30 exhibitions of Moore's work in the UK and worldwide.
Anita studied at the University of London, Courtauld Institute of Art, (MA 1989) and the University of California, Los Angeles, (BA Art History 1984). Her recent publications include Henry Moore Textiles, Lund Humphries, London 2008 and 'An Art of the Open Air', Moore at Kew, Kew Publishing, 2007.
The Henry Moore Foundation's Director, Richard Calvocoressi, said today:
'David has played a key role in the understanding of Henry Moore's work worldwide, and in the development of The Henry Moore Foundation itself. He has been central to life at our headquarters in Hertfordshire for over 40 years, and will be greatly missed by his colleagues for his wisdom, kindness and energy. The exhibitions he has curated have brought pleasure and inspiration to people worldwide, and his publications have set the benchmark for Moore scholarship.
The Foundation is delighted that our Curator Anita Feldman has agreed to accept the role of Head of Collections and Exhibitions. Her experience and knowledge of Moore and his work have led to the creation of first-rate exhibitions and publications over the last 14 years and we look forward to those that lie ahead. She has, for example, played an important part in the realisation of the upcoming Henry Moore at Tate Britain.'
Notes: The Henry Moore Foundation is the lead supporter of Henry Moore at Tate Britain, 24 February - 8 August 2010, and has been closely involved in the gallery's exhibition preparations, including loaning many of the works on show and giving curatorial support.
