The revelatory exhibition Henry Moore Textiles, held in the Sheep Field Barn Gallery. These displays bring together 100 stunning fabrics designed by Moore in the 1940s, together with four textile wall panels. Also on display are 26 Moore textile drawings, and two sketchbooks of textile designs, one of which only came to light as recently as 2006. The vast majority of these works had never been on public display before this exhibition was launched at Perry Green in 2008. The exhibition, which will tour to Pallant House Gallery, Chichester in autumn 2009, will include the newly acquired drawing Textile Design for ‘Fruit and Flowers’.
The first-ever display, new to Perry Green, of eight beautiful tapestries from the Moore Family Collection, commissioned by Henry Moore in the late 1970s and woven at West Dean College, near Chichester. The tapestry designs are translated from a selection of the artist’s 1975 drawings and draw on the theme of women and children. They will be hung in the medieval Aisled Barn.
An opportunity to see inside Hoglands, the Moores' fully-restored home, as well as the artist’s numerous studios.
An open-air display of Moore’s sculpture around the 70-acre estate.
The public are welcome, with all visits booked in advance via www.henry-moore.org.
