Henry Moore's birthday and the Archive

The Henry Moore Archive is currently undergoing a move. Another move.

In 2014 we packed away our extensive archive collections, ready to embark on the construction of a new Henry Moore Archive building. Now, after a three year building project, our brand new Archive storage facilities are ready for use. The stores are individually temperature and humidity controlled, providing exactly the right climate to care for our extensive collection.

13,750 books, 10,200 exhibition catalogues, and 100,000 pieces of correspondence are just a few examples of the collections that are being removed from storage to be placed in their new home. Each individual item is being quality checked and cleaned by hand as it is recovered, ensuring that they are in the best condition for future use and research.

It's fitting that most recently we have been unpacking a selection of special exhibition catalogues celebrating Henry Moore’s birthday throughout the years. Today, Sunday 30 July 2017, would have been his 119th birthday.
