Turning the Pages - David Dye's notebooks

This pocket sized, black 'Alwych' notebook contains notes and sketches by David Dye. It includes a small number of rough preparatory sketches, similar in style to photographs of Dye’s early sculpture found elsewhere in the David Dye Archive (collection reference: 2016.1).

The notebook also contains lists of works made between July and October 1966.

The first twenty-two pages of the notebook contain handwritten French grammar and vocabulary, possibly indicating attendance at adult education classes.

Also includes personal reminders and notes. Some sensitive information has been deliberately blurred out. Approximately one third of the notebook is unused, and has been omitted.

Catalogue reference no: 2016.1/A/1; Leeds Museums & Galleries (Henry Moore Institute Archive) Bequest of the artist, 2015.
